Privacy Policy
Your trust matters to us. Here is how we care for the information you share.

Who we are
The Canadian Sacred Commons Foundation (“CSCF”, “we”, “us”) is a Canadian initiative in its pre-incorporation stage, based in Brampton, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through canadiansacredcommons.ca, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to follow the principles of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to share with us, plus a small amount of technical information that our website platform gathers automatically.
- Newsletter sign-up: your name and email address.
- Founding Partners interest form: your name, email address, organization (optional), the circle that interests you, and anything else you choose to tell us.
- Emails you send us: your email address and whatever you include in your message.
- Booking a conversation: bookings are made through Calendly, which collects the details you enter there under its own privacy policy.
- Website usage: our website is hosted by Squarespace, which automatically collects information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and the site that referred you, and uses cookies to keep the site working and to give us aggregated visitor statistics.
How we use it
- To send you our newsletter, if you signed up for it.
- To respond to your messages, interest forms, and invitations.
- To arrange conversations you book with us.
- To understand, in aggregate, how people use our website so we can improve it.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for any purpose you haven’t agreed to.
Consent and your choices
By signing up or contacting us, you consent to us using your information as described here. We send newsletters only to people who have asked to receive them, in keeping with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing or by emailing us.
You can also set your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Some parts of the site may not work as well without them.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the Foundation, and only as needed for them to provide their services:
- Squarespace: website hosting, forms, analytics, and our newsletter (Squarespace Email Campaigns).
- Google: our email account and document sharing.
- Calendly: booking conversations.
These providers may store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of those countries. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Newsletter subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe. Form submissions and emails are kept for as long as needed to respond and to maintain our relationship with you, and then deleted.
How we protect it
We use reputable service providers with industry-standard security and limit access to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you have a concern we haven’t resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Foundation grows, for example when we incorporate or add new ways to give. We’ll post any changes on this page with a new “last updated” date.
