GRATITUDE AND PLACE

Indigenous Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we live and work across the lands and waters of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples, on ceded and unceded territories.

The Canadian Sacred Commons Foundation is being developed within a country shaped by the histories and ongoing legacies of genocide, colonization, and dispossession, spanning the lands and waters of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. We honour the enduring stewardship of the many Indigenous Peoples who call these lands and waters home, and strive to stand in solidarity for truth and reconciliation.

Indigenous ways of knowing and being emphasize relationality, reciprocity, responsibility, and the sacred interconnection between land, people, more-than-human life, and Spirit. This wisdom offers profound guidance for any effort concerned with Love and flourishing. All teachings shared within our movement are held as gifts, with humility, care, gratitude, and responsibility.

WHERE WE ARE PRIMARILY BASED

Treaty 19

Our headquarters is in the City of Brampton, Ontario.

The City of Brampton is located on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Haudenosaunee and Wendat Nations who have called this land home since time immemorial. We recognize the Mississaugas of the Credit as the original rights holders and the signatories of Treaty 19—the Ajetance Purchase of 1818—and that the agreements made in that treaty continue to shape our responsibilities to these lands and their peoples.
